EBC via Gokyo Lakes — Travel Tips

Smart tips for a safer, smoother trek

Complete Travel Tips

Keep it slow: longer days, higher passes, and bigger scenery.

🗓️ Best time to trek
  • Spring (Apr–May): stable weather, bright turquoise lakes
  • Autumn (Sep–Oct): clearest views, cold mornings
  • Winter (Dec–Feb): very cold, snow on passes
  • Monsoon (Jun–Aug): cloudy, slippery trails, limited views
⛰️ Acclimatization & altitude safety
  • Route is higher and more demanding than standard EBC.
  • Add acclimatization days (Namche + Gokyo).
  • Cross Cho La Pass only in stable weather.
  • Descend immediately if altitude symptoms worsen.

If symptoms get worse at altitude, the safest choice is usually to descend.
